Tantrik Temple Adjoining Crematory Ground

The Tarapeeth temple is located in Rampurhat in the Indian state of West Bengal. The city is famous for Devi Tara and Tantra Sadhana. Such is a tantrik temple adjoining crematory ground.

It is said that once the merchant Jaya Dutta, a resident of Birbhum, after recovering his business and his son’s life, they set up a temple of Pith after having a dream, but there is no truth to this.

The first worshiper of the Tara pith temple was Sadhak Byamakhayapa. Fans believe that many of the stories of Mother Tara were directly involved.

In 1906 poet Rabindranath Tagore and freedom fighter Mukund Das went to seek the blessings of Mother Tara and Saint Bamakhayapa. Rabindranath Tagore mentioned his experience in a poem — “Amar matha Noto kore Dao Tomar Choron Dhul or tole”.

In 1743 Birbhum’s resident karma Jibon Ray Chowdhury rebuilt the temple and in 1818 Jagannath Roy rebuilt the temple.

Near the Tarapeeth temple there are many sanctuaries, where some Tantra Sadhakas used to practice, it is said that Sadhak Bamakhayapa used to practice Tantra in these sanctuaries.

Devotees visit the Tarapeeth temple throughout the year. Here is opening hours 4. 30 am to 5.30am, 12.00 pm to 1.30 pm, 8 pm to 9 pm. Exception for special days. Give puja time hours 5.30 am to 12 pm and 7.30 pm to 10.00 pm (Exceptions for special days)

Time to prasad/vog give for devotees everyday 12.00 pm to 1.30 pm
