In 1898, Barog was given the task of building this tunnel. He was a railway engineer, but after making various calculations about the construction of this tunnel, he ordered all the workers to dig holes from both sides of the hill.
But his platting was wrong i.e. the hole was started from both sides of the hill but the hole did not meet at a certain place and thus all his labor was wasted. And as this project was completely failed by him, he had to endure various insults from the higher-ups and even the workers were angry with him. Humiliated Barog became despondent and committed suicide in that tunnel. People say that after suffering various insults, he went out one night with his pet dog and he had a pistol with him and he chose to commit suicide by shooting himself at a place near the tunnel. Seeing his master covered in blood, his pet dog began to howl profusely, but by the time the man arrived, he was dead.
Barog is buried outside this tunnel and the locals believe that he could not forget the magic and infatuation of the tunnel especially the humiliation he had to endure so his insatiable spirit haunts the tunnel even after his death. After your death another engineer completed this project, but it is heard that engineer had to face many problems because whenever he was working on this project, he had to face many problems from home and from outside. Many attempts were made by the government to close this tunnel but for some unknown reason it was not possible in the end, but the people here believe that eight Barog’s soul do not harm anyone.
