Once the capital of India, the city of Kolkata is famous for its traditional historical places, but the city still has many places that are very haunted, so many people come to visit Kolkata to identify the haunted spots. One of these haunted places in Kolkata is Putul Bari, which even today evokes fear in people just by hearing its name. Locals claim to hear strange noises coming from this house at night, mostly crying. A history of deprivation is associated with this house.

17, Harchandra Mallick Lane, Ahiritolai is known as the doll house of Kolkata. This century-old house has quite a reputation. Partly for construction style and the rest courtesy of social media. This house is haunted. The cries of unsatisfied souls can still be heard in different parts of the house including the balcony of this house..The history of this house is what is known from the people here that in those days the zamindars or noble families used to bring women here from different places to torture them and later kill them here. The house was built in the late 1800s but was originally used as a warehouse. Later the builder of this house started renting out this house and since then this house has been used for various evil activities.

At present this house has become a fraction but a large number of puppets can be seen on the roof of this house although most of the puppets are broken. In fact, this house has a portrait of a doll on its head, hence the name of this house is Putul House. Currently this house is known as a complete ghost house even this house is currently got heritage status and entry into this house is prohibited as per below notification issued by the government. It is not possible to know the true history of this haunted house in Kolkata but it can be assumed that many women were tortured here and many of them were killed and disappeared here. So maybe their extra souls are still wandering around the house to judge the injustice done to them.
