Demon Worship
We worship of Devi Durga in Durga Puja Occasion. The festival is very popular especially among Bengalis. From childhood we heard Goddess Durga killed Mahasasur to establish the Truth. But you will definitely surprise to know in some parts of West Bengal even in some states like Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh Asur is worshipped i.e. Demon Worship.
Where Asur Is Worshipped?
In Purulia district of West Bengal there is group of tribal who claim to be descendants of Mahisasura. They claim that Mahisasura was a brave warrior of their community who was tricked and killed by Goddess Durga. According to them it was the fight of Aryans with Aryas where they were unfairly defeated. The brave warrior did not fight with woman so devi Durga killed him by taking this as an advantage.
During the ten days when the people of West Bengal and Hindus of entire India celebrate the festival of goddess Durga they mourn. They even worship Mahisasura according to certain rules of worship. If you say anything good about Goddess Durga, they get very angry. They do not want to think Mahisasura as a myth they consider it as a historical fact. I do not know which is true or false but i respect their beliefs also Devi Durga is supreme respectable for me who is a symbol of strength.
