Narajole is a village and gram panchayat in Daspur I CD Block in Ghatal subdivision. From Panskura station then travel by local transport about 35km by road to Narajole on a day trip. This palace was built approximately 600 years ago by a landlord named Uday Narayan Ghosh. At the time of construction was this palace this area was full of forest. In fact, Uday Narayan built it by order of a goddess in dreams.

The Raj Palace stands on a sprawling 360-bigha land in Narajole and Lankagarh where the three-storied Raj Palace having 250 rooms besides a ‘Hawa Mahal’ is housed on 60-bigha area surrounded by parikha (ditches) in the interior fort side. The exterior fort spans over the rest 300 bighas up to Lankagarh, a km away, where the ‘Jalhari’, outhouse of the Rajas, encircled by ditches, is situated on 100 bighas. Fifty-four temples are located in the exterior fort area where a 10-bigha plot was donated for building a degree college

Nearby Attractions of Palace

Three temples can be seen on the way to this Rajbari, and it is believed that three temples are the memorial temples of any deceased member of this palace. There are also a shiva temple near the Raj palace area which is totally unique in terms of its patterns. The palace is surrounded by 500 feet a wall which ensures the safety of the Palace. While entering the palace you will notice the entrance gate which apparently was once grand but now it is dilapidated.

There is so many temples inside the palace and in most of them are rich in terracotta art. An ark of the palace is kept outside for visitors to see and really it is huge. The most interesting part is you can access all rooms of the palace because many rooms are locked. But this palace is really suffering of lack of maintenance. Built in the combination of Bengali and European sculptural styles this palace attracts the mind of any tourists. Many great personalities like Subhas Chandra Bose, Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Jaharlal Nehru visited here.
