The king Krishna Chandra had ruled from 1728 to 1782. And Gopal Bhar was the important personality of his Kingdom. His work was mainly to make laugh the king and all other councils of ministers. But it is also heard that Gopal Bhar used to help the king by his intelligence and saved the kingdom.
Was Gopal Bhar Real?
Although many people doubt about the real existence of Gopal Bhar but if you come to Krishnagar you can see the statue of Gopal Bhar. Even his living house is still preserved at Krishnagar. We talked about him with the local people of Krishnagar. They claimed even now the Descenders of Gopal Bhar still live in the Krishnagar. We also talked with them. But their financial conditions seemed not be very strong. But they feel pride that Still people are so excited about one of them ancestor. But it is all their claim that they are descended from Gopal Bhar, although they have no proof.

The facts against of Gopal Bhar Real Existence
According to one author, there was no Gopal Bhar. While he was studying at the royal court of Krishnagar he did not find of real existence of Gopal Bhar. it was totally a fictional character. Earlier Kings used to spread all these propagandas to promote his greatness. Even in ‘ Anndamangal ” book there was no mentioned the name of Gopal Bhar. No historical reliable books support the real existence of Gopal Bhar.
Some people of Krishnagar say Gopal Bhar was born in Ghurni Biswas family of Krishnar. But now what we see the body structure of Gopal Bhar in Cartoon no resembles with actual His figure. Even at that time Brahmins used to hate him. Because of lower caste he had to tolerate all the insults from upper caste people. But he would win all the time by his great intelligent.
Whether or not Gopal Bhar actually existed, a fair is held every year in his memory at Krishnagar. Also, a statue of him was built in 2003. Now every tourist goes to see the statue after coming to Krishnagar.
What happened with Gopal Bhar at Last?
It is known that after death of King Krishnachandra, he was not accommodated in the cabinet, so he eventually moved to Khanakul and died there.
