The city Of Bishnupur refers to the terracotta city made by burnt clay and various architecture temples built during the royal period also we can see here the mixture of art & religion, and the famous Baluchuri saree was originated from here as well as the delicious food ” Praster bora ”. Located about 150 km away from Kolkata the city is usually crowed throughout the year but more crowded in winter.
The most interesting places of Bishnupur are –
Ras Mancha: Its upper part is like a pyramid; the middle part is like a shed and lower part is like a mosque. At one time Rath Utsav was prevalent here but not now. Now it is under the Archeological survey Of India.

Shyamrai Temple: It is the best temple among the Pancha Shikhar temples in Bishnupur. King Raghunath Singh made it in 1643. The designs of Balu Chari saree are made from the design made on this temple.

Gumghar: The houses built during the King period are very attractive for tourists.

The stone doors built during the reign of Maharaja Bir Singh are very interesting. There is also a chariot made of laterite stone.
Lalji Temple: Built in the reign of Raja or King Bir Singha ii temple was built by a high peak.

Radheshyam Temple: This temple with the idols of Radha Krishna is worshiped daily. The wall of this temple depicts martial arts and other life exploits of moral kings in terracotta.

Kesto rai Temple: On this do Chala shaped temple the idols of Radha Krishna with animals are displayed. It is also known as ” Jor Bangla ”.

Dol Madal Kaman: considered as the largest Kaman of that time this was used in the reign of King Gopal Singha. The length of it is 3.8 meter and width 29.2 cm.

Terracotta Huts: Every Saturday afternoon from 1 pm to 8 pm there is a market here. Apart from terracotta artifacts, many items are sold here.
The city has many parts of ancient history with mainly terracotta monuments. From Howrah trains of Bishnupur is easily available. For weekend tour this destination is best from Howrah and Kolkata.
