A brief biography of Bengal’s veteran film actor Manoj Mitra

Manoj Mitra is one of the leading film actors of old India passed away. Born in 1938 in Bangladesh, this actor started acting on stage from 1957. This distinguished stage actor rose to fame early in Jatra theater but he participated in films from 1979 onwards. He also taught Philosophy in various colleges before joining Rabindra Bharati University as the Head of the Department of Drama. Although he wrote his first play ‘Mrityur Khej Jal’ in 1959, he made his debut in 1972 with the play ‘Chak Bangga Madhu’, which was stage directed by Vibhash Chakraborty. Apart from this, he founded the theater group ‘Sundaram’ and gained special fame by acting in films. This famous actor of Bengali films passed away today and as soon as the news of his death came, the Bengali Tollywood industry was in mourning.
