A slightly different thought on the occasion of Republic Day on January 26. We have to stand by the present generation of all those freedom fighters, not public speeches only. My salutations to the souls of all those freedom fighters who selflessly sacrificed their lives for the sake of the country.
I really wish on this republic day or some special day like 15th August if we can trace the families of all those freedom fighters and if we can do something considering their condition it would be great. Spending this day only playing loud music or drinking alcohol doesn’t seem like a good thing to me and somehow I feel that we are insulting the spirit of those freedom fighters. On this day we salute the souls of all the freedom fighters of India who sacrificed their lives for the country without thinking about their own interests. These days the mind becomes very emotional, maybe we are becoming a bit more selfish as we go on we cannot remember those days of freedom struggle.
I was born in the 90s, that means after independence and almost 40 years, so it is not possible for us to know what those days were like, but we have seen in movies or read history in some cases and know how much suffering those days were for the freedom fighters. It has also happened that some freedom fighters went forward for the country without thinking about their parents, and sometimes some freedom fighters had to sacrifice themselves for the country without thinking about their wives and sons. What a great sacrifice they have made. Today we are living this country freely because of their sacrifice. Some of today’s political leaders talk as if this country exists because they exist, but they are working day and night for their own interests. It is not possible to expect the current political leaders to act without interest. That’s why I only respect those freedom fighters whose fight was genuine and selfless. The worst thing is that if we collect the data, we will see that the present generation of those who fought for freedom are living in hardships while the present generation of those who brokered for the British are living very well. There is no point in being patriotic on this day if we can do anything then we will do it for the present generation of those freedom fighters at least we will show our respect to them. And my message to the souls of all those freedom fighters is that wherever you are, we will never forget your great sacrifice. I don’t know how much I could have done for the country if I had been born at that time. Therefore, if I can stand by your next generation even now, that will be the greatest achievement of my life. My humble regards to you.
