Indian Railways is the Bond of the Heart
It is said that Indian railways is the bond of the heart. According to legend, this place is named Dhatrigram after the ancient famous Dhatrimata i.e. Jagaddhatri Puja. About 300 years ago Pandit Ramabhadra Tarkasiddhanta of Nadia district came here and started teaching in a tola. At that time a member of his family got a dream of Goddess Jagaddhatri and from then on Jagaddhatri Puja started. Even today, the Puja of Goddess Jagaddhatri, the presiding goddess of Dhatrigram, is celebrated with great fanfare. Dhatrigram is a famous ancient town under Kalna police station in East Burdwan district of West Bengal on the west bank of Bhagirathi. This station is located about 90 km from Howrah on the Howrah Katowa railway line. At present Dhatrigram is a significant place in the weaving industry of West Bengal.
