Is marital rape a shameful aspect of civilisation? No one can deny that many women in the society are victims of marital rape.
Marital rape is a word we are all familiar with but we citizens living in a civilized society may not want to talk about it but its victims are many women and even men in some cases.. I was first introduced to this by watching a movie in my childhood called “Alo”. It was a Bengali movie and won many awards at that time. There was a scene in this movie where a village bride is raped by her husband on the first night of their wedding. Although this movie is quite family friendly none of us were ready to watch this scene because this scene was offensive enough but it also gave a very important message to the society at that time. In the society of that time, I would rather say that even in some cases, the idea remained in the minds of some people that after marriage they could have physical relations with their wives against their will. They do not want to accept the issue of marital rape because they do not want to understand that it is legally wrong and at the same time it is a crime in human terms.
Nowadays many women are being subjected to marital rapes by their husbands but it is such a case that they cannot open their mouths publicly, they cannot go to the police station to complain to the police in the name of their husbands or take any legal action, but they have to bear everything with their mouths shut. It is a form of mental and physical torture. Sometimes it is also seen that many children see their mother being tortured by their father and as a result they develop a distorted mentality. In view of these, the child may become completely unable to engage in sexual intercourse or become so obsessed with physical needs that he continues to engage in the same activities when he is of marriageable age. Both of these are bad not only for him but for the society as a result of which the next generation goes bad.
Recently I was looking for a boy for my close relative sister’s marriage when we came in contact with one such boy. We knew that the boy had a previous marriage and it was stated by the boy that they accidentally came to know after the marriage that the girl was a minor so they proceeded to dissolve the marriage. And it was further said by the boy that the character of the girl’s family especially her mother was so bad that they decided to divorce. But the truth was completely different as we came to know that the boy was regularly raping the girl he married earlier. And the girl is forced to give the boy a divorce and he tells everything to his family and then their divorce is completed through a mutual understanding. Although there is no way to tell from the outside that the boy could be harboring such a demonic mentality within himself. How many more girls have ruined their lives and for some such boys the male race is maligned in the whole society and boys are looked down upon by girls. There is no way to understand those who commit marital rape from the outside, you can’t even imagine how much evil is hidden inside them. Such people need to be counseled and brought under the law because they destroy the entire society. Today I am writing this article based on a true story I will continue to write about marital rape because it is emerging as a heinous crime in society and many girls are victims. But I think that most of the time boys who choose to do matrimonial philosophies are responsible for it because their parents don’t teach them enough how to deal with a girl..Such abominable thoughts may be developed by some animals but those who engage in such activities as human beings must be counseled because such persons are only human on the outside but they are like animals on the inside. I think the government should inform the general public about this issue because many women are victims but they are not able to say anything due to shame, the government should come forward positively and create awareness among the public.
