Running into the Desert in search of warmth

Jaisalmer in Rajasthan is an ideal place to visit in winter with family or friends. Jaisalmer railway station is connected with any junction railway station in India so you will get many train arrangements to reach here. Or if you want to come by flight then there is Jaisalmer airport which is just 15 km from Jaisalmer city center.

2 days 3 night package is ideal for traveling to Jaisalmer. Another good news is that you can come here and rent a bike and explore the interesting places here. You can get a bike for a daily rental of around 1000 rupees. Driving license and Aadhaar card are mandatory for renting a bike so bring these two things. There are enough hotels available here, you can find all types of hotels besides the station, starting from simple hotels to luxury hotels and even within the fort, you will find many hotels.

In three days we will explore the city of Jaisalmer on the first day and discuss its planning with you. About four thousand people of Brahmins and Kshatriyas still live in this fort. Maharaja Jaisalmir built this fort on Mount Meru in 1156. Two places of great tourist interest in this fort are the Raja’s Mahal and the second is the Rani’s Mahal which is now a heritage site. Both are open for tourists from 9 am to 6 pm. This entire architecture was made with a special type of material called gold stand and its artificial design is truly a unique piece of art. In these two mahals you can see different weapons used in ancient times and different statues that carry many historical memories in present day. But my personal opinion is to get a good tour of the Raja and Rani Bhal you can take the help of a local guide here who will take you around the whole place in about two hours with good details. There are a total of seven Jain temples between these two mahals which fall within the ambit of the heritage site. You should spend around three hours to visit this whole Jaisalmi temple. You need to familiarize yourself with the history but you can enjoy the thrill with every thing here. Along with the guide, if you have a little knowledge of history, you can enjoy this tour even more. Coming out of the fort, we listened to local folk dances and folk music which filled our hearts. Also when we came out of the fort there is a specialty of this place the food when we tasted it was really so good that I can’t explain the food was completely unique which we have never tasted before.

After that we will go to Patoa ki Haveli which is just two kilometers away from Jaisalmir. We came to know from the people here that Patua was a very rich businessman who had five children and had built five mahals for the five sons. Amazingly, these five mansions took nearly 50 years to build and today only one of the five havelis is considered a heritage site and is open to the public. Here you will find a lot of antiquities from the olden days and the most interesting thing is the wonderful art display on the walls. The entry time here is from 9 am to 6 pm and when we visited the ticket price was 160 rupees per head.

Then we will move to Bara Bagh which is just 6 km from Jaisalmer in fact it is the burial place of the kings here the kings were buried and over the burial place an umbrella like art installation i.e. architectural style was created which today looks very interesting and tourists flock here in large numbers. 100 rupees per head to enter here you can come directly from Jaisalmer by private car maybe take a maximum of rupees 500 per head.

Many people think that there is only desert in Jaisalmer, this is completely false. Here you can see a beautiful lake which is very attractive for tourists. It’s name is Gadisar Lake. It is just two kilometers from the main service point but if you go boating here you will have to spend 300 to 400 rupees per head. There was a time when water was supplied from this leg to all areas now it is connected to an irrigation canal and it receives water through that canal. This place has a water laser show so that you can enjoy it with your family and there is no ticket fee for it. And thus we completed the first day of our journey.

Next day we will start our journey first with Jaisalmer War Memorial where you can learn all about India Pakistan War of 1965 & 1971. Here you can see various Ashta Shastras used in the war and even captured a Pakistan Kaman and a fighter plane during the India Pakistan war. Tourists can see that too. The distance from the city center of Jaisalmer to this place is about 12 km and it is open for tourists from 9 am to 6 pm. There is an arrangement to watch a documentary film for which the ticket price is around 60 rupees per head. Then you can go to Kul-Dhara village which is known as one of the haunted places in India, it is located at a distance of about 35 km from the city center of Jaisalmer, but we guess it is better not to take any children or women to this place. There was a time when many families lived in this village but one day when the headman of this village caught the eye of a devil named Salim Singh on his daughter, they were forced to leave this village overnight and since then the name is known as cursed village and even today in the internet world you can find this You will get a lot of information about the village which we have not discussed in detail and there is always a negative energy in this place. Besides this village there is another fort which you can visit in no time you can cover it all.

Then we will go to Sam sand Dunes. it’s best to get there as early as you can try to get there before 3pm because there is a variety of entertainment things that you won’t understand until you go there. There are tent facilities for tourists with attached bathroom facilities and this place is very clean and you will enjoy your visit. But let’s say one thing when you visit here apart from the various spots here the culture of the local people here their dances their music shows will mesmerize you and with that the traditional history of Rajasthan is involved if you know a little history then you will feel very sad when you leave this place. We can say for sure.

Then we will start the third day i.e. the last day of our journey this time we will go to Longe Bala War Memorial which is located at a distance of about 120 km from the city of Jaisalmer where it took us about three hours to reach. This is the place where a great battle between India and Pakistan took place where only 120 soldiers of the Indian Punjab Regiment defeated a large number of Pakistani soldiers which later made a good Bollywood movie based on the incident called Border. Coming to the place, you will get to know a lot of information about the India Pakistan war and you will feel proud to know the history of heroic struggle of the Indian army as you merge yourself with the atmosphere of the place. Here you will find an Indian cafe located at the last frontier of India which is currently run by the Indian Army.

Now we will go to Tanot Mata Temple which is about 40 km from here this temple is very amazing temple and people say that Pakistan dropped around 300 bombs in this temple but surprisingly not a single bomb exploded here. All those bombs are still kept in the temple for visitors to see.The temple is managed by the Indian Army. India Pakistan border is a little far from this temple but if you want to go to the border you have to fill a form with the army here only then you will get permission to go there but you don’t have to pay anything for this it is completely free. It is mandatory to give your Aadhaar card number at the time of form filling. But here’s an information you can’t go till India Pakistan border by two wheeler you have to hire a four wheeler that’s the rule here. Reaching the border, you can see far from here through a watch tower. To tell you the truth, I found this view very beautiful and I have not forgotten that scenery till now. When you come here and look at the mobile phone, two times will show you, one is the time of India and the other is the time of Pakistan.

After that it was our turn to return our three days journey was completed now we went back but the memory of Jaisalmer remained in our mind in the future we will definitely come again if we have time to enjoy this city again thanks.
