Medical Examination of the Sexual Assault Victim
Rape is a heinous crime in our human civilization and in many cases today we see that this crime against minors is on the rise. When a girl is raped, she is not only physically abused but also emotionally traumatized which is remembered for a long time. The rule is that a medical test should be done after rape and if the medical test is not done in time and following the correct procedure then no legal evidence of rape can be obtained. It is said that when a woman goes for this medical test after being raped, she has to go through various discomforts.
The girl’s entire body was examined for signs of coercion. Samples are taken from the vagina, genitals and surrounding area to look for semen. Part of the grueling process the victim goes through during this medical test is the two-fingering test. In this procedure, an expert doctor inserts two fingers into the woman’s genitals. By this procedure he checks the vaginal opening and the veil. This process is one of the most gruesome in terms of medical tests on rape, which leaves the woman in a state of emotional breakdown and many times crying.
Although the two fingering test has now been banned in many countries, it is still practiced in some areas where there are not enough machines available. This method is used to see if the woman actually consented during the physical intercourse or if she was forcibly raped, although many people call it an unscientific consent method, so this method is slowly becoming purer.
However, in many cases, before going to the hospital or the health center, the raped woman completely undresses, as a result of which the semen in her body disappears and the various symptoms in her body decrease, so it is not possible to prove the rape in many cases. However, the biggest problem doctors face is when a married woman, who has had sex with her husband or her partner on a regular basis, makes it impossible to tell if she was forced because of the increased vaginal pressure. It becomes very difficult to ascertain whether he has really been coerced.
Usually in the room where the examination is done there are a few female nurses in addition to the doctor and may be accompanied by the advocate who can later present as a witness in the trial court. The test usually takes several hours and nurses are always ready to provide emotional comfort to the victim during this time. It is necessary to mention here that if the expert doctor thinks that the rapist can take pictures of the woman completely naked because they will be presented in the court as evidence in this case then a woman has to go through a lot of embarrassment which is true for her. The way is the same as mental depression.
There are also a number of other secret tests that we have not been able to shed light on because the process is so secretive that no one but specific doctors and a wide range of nurses know the details. Although we have tried to describe this detailed process as dignified as possible, this test process is really very emotional for a woman because she has to face a shame again
