
Worshiping the Power of Maa Kali
This very famous temple Naihati Kali Madir popularly known as ” Boro Ma” located in Naihati Shyam Road, Thakur Para, Kolkata, West Bengal. It is the place of worshiping the power of Maa kali. The worship time is from 8 am to 1pm, 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm and from 4 pm to 8 pm. The Nearest Railway Station is the Naihati Railway Station. You can get trains from Sealdah like Shantipur local, Ranaghat local, Naihati local, Gede local etc. Then you need to get down at the Naihati station and from there the temple is 550 metres away. You can easily walk up to the temple to reach there in a few minutes.
About Goddess Ma kali
Here Ma Kali is the dedicated goddess. The offering puja to goddess has been continuing since last 100 years. People have a strange belief about this goddess that if anybody wants from her from real heart Goddess does not disappoint him. The idol which has been worshipped over the years is 21 feet in height. The idol is completely covered by either silver or gold ornaments. There is no other material used to cover Boro Maa other than silver or gold. Boro Maa stands decorated with 200 Kgs of Silver and 1.1 Kg of Gold Jewellery.
History Behind the Temple
It is said that Bhabesh Chakraborty with his four friends went to Naba Dwip to make pilgrimage about 100 years ago. He was so surprised by all idols and temples of Naba Dwip that he came back and built such temples and idols in Naihati. Initially this temple was known by his name as he established but later it has become more popular as ” Boro Maa” among the devotees. Although this temple is for all public but still no donation is collected from road for worship of Maa Boro ma. Pranami box is kept inside the temple if anyone feels to give money, he can give but no priests will ask you for money. This is the speciality of this temple from other temples in India.
