An intense spiritual shadow of peace of mind
Also known as Nandikeshwari Tala, which is considered as an intense spiritual shadow of peace of mind, is located in Sainthia city of West Bengal. The history of the Nandikeshwari Temple is linked with the event of Sati’s self-sacrifice at the yajna Sabha of her father Daksha, because Daksha insulted Sati and her husband lord Shiva. It is believed that the necklace of Sati’s corpse fell here. when the Sudarshan Chakra of Lord Vishnu mutilated the corpse of Sati from the arms of Lord Shiva to reduce his rage. The present temple was built in 1913, the Bengali year of 1320.
Nandikeshwari temple is located in earlier Nandipur village, which is now a part of Sainthia town, Birbhum district, West Bengal around 200 Km from Kolkata. The Sainthia town is located on the bank of river Mayurakshi. According to Hindu scripture Neck lace of Sati fell here. Goddess is worshipped here as Nandini and Shiva as Nandikeshwar.
Sainthia Junction railway station is stone throw distance from the temple. So, the best way to reach the temple is considered via railways best time to visit the temple is from the months of August to March. All the major festivals of the temple are celebrated during these months.
The temple is located in very quiet place next to the station, but coming here gives a different kind of peace of mind. I went in and sat for a long time. I looked at the goddess statue and thought for a long but i now do not remember what i was thinking may be i was hypnotized them. I liked the atmosphere of the temple so much that i did not really want to come but it was getting time for my train so forced me to come out of temple.
I would say those who want to visit this temple, this place is an ideal place to visit with family for a day. Birbhum district has so many Saktipeeths and this is one of them.
