
Pain History of Palashi
Palashi is a place of great historical interest which is attached the pain history of 300 years ago attached with Last Nawab Siraj UD Daulah Located about 50 K.M. from Krishnanagar. The famous Battle of Plassey was fought here on 23rd June 1757 between the last independent ruler of Bengal, Nawab Siraj Ud-Daula (1756-1757) and the British forces under the command of Lord Clive
A memorial stone was erected here in 1883 to commemorate this historic event. However, what monument we see today was later renovated. This is the place where the last Nawab of Bengal Sirajuddaula had a fierce battle with British but finally, he lost. And the British empire began. Located on the banks of Hooghly River this place is perfect for one day short trip from Kolkata. Nearest rail station is Plassey. From Kolkata to this place will take time about 4 to 5 hours by road.
On that day British had soldiers only 3000 but in other hand Nawab had 50,000 soldiers but 45000 soldiers did not participate in the battle by order of treacherous army chief Mirzafar. Although Nawab had one hundred times more power than British but still, he had to lose only because of treachery of Mirzafar.
