Shikharji Parasnath Bhagwan, Land of Clouds
“Where the clouds pass under your feet” …….. We are talking about Parasnath Hills of Jharkhand. Parasnath temple is also known as ” Shikharji Dham ” is located at Madhuban in Giridih district of Jharkhand state of India. This hill is considered as the highest hills in Jharkhand state having a height of 4478 feet. It is a sacred Pilgrimage of Jain religion people.

The hill Parasnath is called the Land of Clouds because if you come here will see clouds slowy drift away under your feet. Parasnath who was the 23rd Tirthankar of Jain religion people died here at the age of 100 years was named after him. At Madhuban more 23 Tirthankar came and attained siddhi which is the special spiritual knowledge or ultimate knowledge of the universe. At present there are 24 Tirthankar’s temples are spreads over an area of 300 acres of Lands. Each temple has the footprints of each Tirthankar.

Descending from hills there is a place where it is said Ramchandra with his wife Sita Devi and brother Laxman took shelter when they got very tired while going to exile. Apart from religious place who are nature lover they also like this place for its unique natural beauty. It is a place where you can be witnessed to see the clouds are passing by under your feet.
During winter and monsoon season tourists are more crowded here. on 15th January Jharkhand government organise fair at up & down of hills both. From Madhuban it is only 9 km and 300 km from Kolkata. Jambu Tawai express, Doon Express, Purba Express, Chambal express is pass through this destination. Parasnath temple is not far away from rail station. ATM, Hotels, Shops, Banks are available here. But non vegetarian foods are strictly prohibited here.

Tourists can hire bikes, palki etc for climbing the hill. if you want to reach temple by walk almost it will take 5 hours. usually, trek is start at the late night from hotel only then it is possible to reach the peak of the hill and come back at the same day. it is advisable to tourist to have a strict with themselves irrespective of age and gender.

Hiring cost of bikes around 1000 Indian rupees for up down. And for hiring palki cost will be around 3k to 4k but it depends on weight of the person. total it is 9km trekking, but you can find rest center every after 1 or 2 km where you can get water as well as light foods.
