The First Adult (A) film of Bollywood.
Currently the Indian film industry is making Bollywood the whole world but do you know which was the first adult movie of this Bollywood industry? In 1930s, Bollywood started with a movie, but till then movies were not divided into separate categories. In 1949, the Government of India made a law according to which Indian movies were divided into categories. Movies that were considered for adult viewing only were given this certificate to mean adult. In 1949, the film Haste Hasu starring Madhubala was released, which was awarded the A certificate and is said to be the first film in Indian history to be awarded with the A certificate.
Although the film required the agency to get the adult certificate because it argued that the story of the film is very simple and depicts the family turmoil of a woman and her work in a factory, the film does not have any material to give it an adult certificate. The movie showed Madhubala being physically abused by her husband so she is forced to leave her husband’s family and try to become independent, although such a plot was very daring in those days. The society of that time had an idea that a woman should only stay at home and take care of the family, so it was not possible for the society of that time to accept that a woman would work in a factory. The movie received an Adult certificate. You will not see any board set of the movie. The movie was commercially successful at that time, so you can still get this movie on YouTube.
