It is heard that the goddess here punished a drug addict. We are talking about Abhaya Kali Temple in Ariyadaha. This temple is very close to Dakshineswar and can be easily reached from Dakshineswar in just a few minutes. The most amazing thing about this temple is that the goddess idol in this temple changes its color with the change of season although no one knows the exact reason or explanation.

Talking to the local people we came to know that once a trader had insulted the priest of this temple and subsequently the trader was crippled. Many people say that the curse of this goddess happened to this businessman. It is also heard about this deity idol that he punished an intoxicated person because that intoxicated person was creating nuisance in the temple in various ways i.e. this Kali temple is very vigilant to the locals. People come from far away to visit this temple.

A long time ago a man named Madhu Roy had a dream that the goddess was instructing him to bring the idol from Kashi and build a temple here. He also tells in the dream that he has no financial condition how he can establish a temple here to which Devi replies that she will fix everything. And at the behest of the goddess, he sailed over to Kasi and brought the idol from there and built a temple here with the help of a local zamindar. Yu is heard to encounter a pirate when he was fetching the idol from Kashi but with the miraculous help of the goddess he escaped from the pirates.

If you visit this place then you will see the river Ganges flowing by the side so this place is also very important in terms of natural attractions. You will notice that the temple has various designs of terracotta which are indicative of medieval art. The goddess idol is made of rough stone. Next to it is a Shiva Linga. Pujas are offered daily in this temple and the timings for the pujas are from 9 AM to 12 PM. Many devotees gather here during Dipanwita Amavasya to offer pooja.
