Trams are going to be history
Now only just wait of some times, Trams are going to be history. It’s like he’s getting too old to accommodate him. Tram has left Kolkata forever. The tradition of 150 years of Kolkata has come to end. He will no longer be seen on the streets of Kolkata. The next generation of Kolkata will read about it only at the pages of History. Although the closure process has been going for last few years and in 2024 it has completely shut down. A public Interest litigation has already gone to Kolkata High court for this initiative taken by the State Transport Department.
in 1883 trams were introduced in 15 cities including Kolkata. Although the image was Kolkata was completely different then Bullock carts used to run in Kolkata City. Since the introduction of Trams in Kolkata it has become very dependent mode of transport. The city has gained the momentum with time. Now Trams are no longer compete with Bus, taxi and metro rail. in 1952 when British raised tram fares by a small amount the Left parities had protested a lot. Today that is a history. The Tram is associated with the death of Jibanananda Das, the Bengali writer. He had died by hitting of Tram in 1954. Forgetting all that we are just moving forward towards the future. from better to better. Let it be a memory in our hearts.
