A temple Among 12 Jyotirlingas in Madhya Pradesh
This Mahakaleshwar temple is located in Ujjayini on the shores of Rup Sagar Lake in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It is one of the 12 jyotirlingas in the world. It is a temple with three steps. The Garbha Griha houses Mahakaleshwar Bhagwan Sri. On the second step is Omkareshwar and on the top step is the idol of Naga Panchami. Jyoti Linga faces east but here it is an exception Tantric Shiva Netra practice is seen only here.The city of Ujjayini was formerly known as the city of Avantika. The special feature of this temple is the Bhasma Aroti at the Mahakal Jyoti Linga at 4 am which brings the ashes to the crematorium. About 600 people can watch this Bhasma Aroti but by buying offline and online tickets then it can be seen that in case of online it took minimum some money and offline does not need.
When entering the sanctum sanctorum of the temple, it is necessary to wear dhoti for boys and cloth for girls. The sanctum sanctorum can be visited from 6 am to 12 noon and from 6 pm to 8 am. The road to the sanctum sanctorum is lit by brass lamps. The Mahakaleshwar temple is filled with the smell of devotees from morning till evening. The temple in the third phase of the temple is the temple of Nagapanchami which is opened only on Nagapanchami day. Out of the total 12 Jyoti Lingas in the world, 2 Jyotilingas are located in Madhya Pradesh, one is Mahakaleshwar and the other is Omkareshwar. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Damodar Das Modi inaugurated the main corridor of this temple on 11th October 2022. Also the vast temple has many corridors. On top of the Garbhabriha there is an idol of Omkareshwar Mahadev as well as an idol of Ganesh Parvati Kartika, Nandi idol. A huge fair is held here during Shivaratri festival. The view from day to evening is more beautiful. The light and cool atmosphere all around makes it interesting to go from one end of the temple to the other, but there is a battery car system in the temple premises where you can also travel by car. The city of Ujjwayani is called the city of temples. There are many Hindu temples here, some distance away is the Kalbhairava temple which originates from the third eye of Mahadev. This Kal Bhairavi is also home to Swapneswari Temple Shaktipeeth Temple Ganesha Temple Gadakhalika Satipeeth Temple Gomtikunda etc.
