Death of the actress who acted in Satyajit Ray’s movie Pather Panchali
Many of you may have seen Pather Panchali which was released in 1955 and director Satyajit Roy won an Oscar for this movie. Actually this novel was written by Vibhutibhushan Banerjee due to which Vibhutibhushan Banerjee is respected by many people. Pather Panchali is one of the timeless movies in Bengali cinema. I was born in the early 90s so this movie was released long before I was born. However, if you watch this movie, you will feel as if you are actually watching someone’s scene in front of your eyes, that is, you will not think that it is an act. Recently an actress of this movie passed away named Uma Dasgupta she played the role of Durga in fact we all know less about her. She is still remembered for her outstanding performance as Durga, although the director’s role was very important because the director managed to utilize all these actors and actresses in the right way. Many people are suffering a lot after hearing the news of her death, although there is nothing to suffer, it is the law of nature that we all have to leave this world one by one. Only the memories will remain in our minds. Most likely this actress did one movie in her life that was Pather Panchali after which she was not seen in any other movie. This movie was released almost 70 years ago today but today we are suffering because one of the actresses of this movie is dying today. But I don’t know how many people will remember the actors and actresses who are acting today after they die, that is, I am talking about 70-80 years from now. I am not underestimating the current generation of actors and actresses but it is a fact that their acting has gone to a low level and most of them have gone into politics for a living.
But we did not see much of the actors and actresses of those days, they were busy in politics, they loved their livelihood and they spent their lives with that. That is why people from all levels of life respected them and loved them which is not seen nowadays. Personally, I am very disappointed to hear the news of Uma Dasgupta’s death, although according to the laws of nature every human being dies one day or another, it seems like a chapter of our childhood memories has ended completely. This is how we may be losing stars one by one. Be well wherever you are. May your soul rest in peace.
