Deoghar is a day trip from Kolkata
in 2018, I left alone for Deoghar in Jharkhand. And off course i would say that Deoghar is a day trip from Kolkata. For Bengalis, this place full of emotions. when we were young we read that the Famous writer Saratchandra and many other famous personalities used to visit this place for vacation and the natural environment of this place is very favourable for recovery from sickness.
There are many temples in Deoghar but the most important temple among all is Baba Baidyanath Temple. The white temple can be seen from far away . It is one of the Jyotirlinga among 12 Jyotirlinga in India. The Shakti Peetha at Baba Baidyanath Dham is associated with the legend of Sati, the consort of Lord Shiva. Upon her self-immolation, Shiva, in his grief, carried her body across the land. At each place where her body parts fell, a Shakti Peetha emerged. In Deoghar, it is believed that Sati’s heart fell, making it the Hriday Peeth, or the Heart Shrine. The Shakti Peetha here is dedicated to Jaya Durga, a manifestation of Goddess Parvati.
After performing puja in Baidyanath temple i went to Trikut hill, not far away from temple. The myth about this hill is Ravana the king of Lanka he would use this top of the hill as helipad of his helicopter. There is a ropeway to climbing the hill. i Think photo shoot lover persons will like this place because from the peak of the hill the natural beauty is awesome. Photographers are available there, you just have to pay for that. But there are a lot of beggars so beware of them because you will have to spend much extra money for them.
Another good place in Deoghar is Tapaoan. his mystical forest area has been associated with meditation and penance for centuries. According to Hindu mythology, it is believed that numerous sages and saints, including the great sage Dattatreya, chose Tapovan as their abode for spiritual practices.
After travelling these three places of Deoghar i decided to come back to home. Those who will go from Kolkata or Howrah i would say, you also can not take hotel. you can come back on the same day.
Jasidih junction is the main station at an approximate 7 km distance and it will take 10 to 15 minutes in covering it from main city of Deoghar serving the satellite town of Deoghar city in Deoghar District.
